In this article, we will be going over how easy it is to set up a Geofence around any important landmarks so you can have more visibility of where your drivers are and monitor who goes in or out of specific locations. We will discuss:

  • Activate/deactivate Geofence
  • Edit Geofence

Create Geofence

It is super easy to create a Geofence from our main navigation bar. Just click on the Geofence module and then click on "Create Geofence" on the bottom.

Create Geofence

In order to create a Geofence, there are 4 required fields that need to be configured in order to save it. These fields are:

  1. Geofence name: It will help you distinguish between Geofences
  2. Alert configuration: It will alert you if a vehicle has gone in or out of a created geofence as well as when do you want to be alerted by setting up a schedule
  3. Add vehicles to Geofence: allows you to add the drivers that you want to be alerted on when they come in or out of a Geofence
  4. Set up "Polygon" or a "Radius": this allows you to shape a Geofence based on your preference of a radius or polygon.

Set up Polygon or a Radius

Once you have completed Step 1 through Step 3 all you have left to do is set up an area for the Geofence. You can start setting up an area by either using the map to zoom into the desired area or using our address search bar to look for a specific address.

Once in the desired area, you can choose either polygon or radius. If the radius option is chosen, click and hold on to an area to expand the Geofence to the desired size of coverage. If the initially drawn geofence is not the one you intended, don't worry, you can just tap on the "ESC" button on your keyboard, and start over.

If you choose a polygon as your desired geofence, you can use your mouse to click around an area of the map and connect all the points until you form the shape of the desired geofence.

Once done shaping the geofence to desired shape and size you will need to click on "Save" to save it. If you don't manage to save your geofence you will have to start over.

Activate/deactivate, edit and delete Geofence

Once geofences have been created you can Activate/deactivate, edit and delete at any time.

Activate/deactivate

To activate or deactivate a geofence, you can simply toggle the button of each created geofence in the Geofence Module. Toggling the geofence off will stop all notifications that have been configured when a driver has gone in or out of a geofence. When toggling geofence on, it will enable all notifications configured in its creation and you will find them in the Notifications module.

Edit Geofence

A geofence can be edited just by simply clicking on an existing geofence, once you are in the geofence you will be able to edit:

  1. Geofence name
  2. Alert configuration
  3. Aler schedule
  4. Add vehicles to Geofence
  5. Change geofence "Polygon" or  "Radius"

After you are done editing, make sure to click "Save" to save changes.

Delete Geofence

To delete an existing geofence, you just have to click on the breadcrumbs to the right of each geofence and click on delete. Please note, that once deleted, you cannot recover the same geofence.
